Caroni

Caroni distillery operated in Trinidad from 1918, linked to the processing of sugar cane from the state-owned plantation of the same name, and closed in 2002 when the government dismantled the national sugar industry. From that point onward, production ceased permanently.

The only existing bottles come from casks left in the warehouses when the distillery closed, acquired in bulk by the Genoese importer Velier and bottled in successive releases. This is a unique situation: the available quantity is finite and known, and decreases with every bottle opened.

Organoleptically, it belongs to the heavy Trinidad rum category: pot still, high ester content, tropical aging, with notes of tar, ripe fruit, and smoke. Provenance verified for every reference.
