Emidio Pepe
The winery has operated in Torano Nuovo, in the province of Teramo, since 1964, working with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Pecorino, on land farmed without synthetic chemicals since before certifications in this area existed.
Its cellar method makes it an isolated case: the grapes are destemmed by hand, berry by berry; crushing is done with the feet, while fermentation and maturation take place in glass-lined concrete tanks. Wood is used at no stage. The wines continue to age in bottle for periods that can exceed ten years, and the older vintages are decanted and recorked by hand before release.
The result is wines with direct fruit and pronounced acidity. Stored under controlled temperature and humidity, with traceable provenance.
