Ornellaia

The estate was founded in 1981 in Bolgheri by Lodovico Antinori, along the Tuscan coast where the maritime climate and gravelly soils had already proved suitable for Bordeaux varieties. The property is now owned by the Frescobaldi group.

The wine that gives the estate its name is a Bolgheri Superiore made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with varying proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged for around eighteen months in barriques. Since 2006, each vintage has been given a name and interpreted by a contemporary artist as part of the Vendemmia d'Artista project.

The range includes Le Serre Nuove, Le Volte, and Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia, the latter being the white wine. The bottles are stored at controlled temperature and humidity, with traceable provenance.
