The Loire is France's largest wine-producing valley, spanning a wide range of climatic conditions, from the Atlantic to the center of the country. This results in a variety of styles that no other French region can cover with the same breadth.
Chenin Blanc produces whites ranging from bone-dry to long-aging sweet, Sauvignon from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé expresses calcareous soils with saline precision, and Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Bourgueil, and Saumur creates reds with crisp fruit and subtle tannins.
