Bartolo Mascarello

The winery is based in the village of Barolo and was founded in the early postwar period on the initiative of Giulio Mascarello; since 2005, it has been run by Maria Teresa, Bartolo's daughter. The estate covers around five hectares, between Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Rué in Barolo and Rocche dell'Annunziata in La Morra.

The approach is traditional: a single Barolo, blended from the different vineyards rather than bottled by cru, classic vinification and aging in large casks, without barriques. The hand-drawn labels originated in the mid-1990s, when Bartolo, no longer able to work in the vineyards, began painting them; today they appear on a limited portion of the bottles.
