Bollinger

The house was founded in 1829 in Aÿ and is among the few major Champagne houses still family-owned. Its style stands out for the prominence of Pinot Noir in the blends and for fermenting reserve wines in small used oak barrels.

The reserve wines are kept in magnums under cork, a condition that slows their evolution and enriches blends in subsequent years. La Grande Année is released only in declared vintages, with long aging on the lees.

The designation R.D. means récemment dégorgé: the same base as La Grande Année, but with much longer lees aging and late disgorgement. Controlled storage, traceable provenance.
