Clos Rougeard

Clos Rougeard is based in Chacé, in the AOC Saumur-Champigny, where the Foucault family has cultivated vines since 1664. Eight generations have succeeded one another; the current reputation is the work of brothers Charly and Nady Foucault, who farmed the vineyards without synthetic chemicals. After Charly's death in December 2015, the estate passed to the Bouygues family in 2017, which left the range unchanged.

Fifteen hectares in twenty-five parcels on clay and limestone, Cabernet Franc for the reds and Chenin for the white. The wines age for two years in barriques and then in bottle in the tuffeau caves, with just four labels: Le Clos, Les Poyeux, Le Bourg and the Saumur blanc Brézé.
