Fenja Hinz

Fenja Hinz is a German winemaker, born in Erlangen in Franconia and trained at Geisenheim, who chose Alto Adige for her own project: the winery is based in Montan, in the Bassa Atesina, and works a small vineyard in Glen, at an altitude of 600 to 660 metres, on deep clay soils over a limestone base.

The range consists of just two wines, both Südtirol DOC Riserva: a Pinot Bianco and a Pinot Nero. The Pinot Bianco undergoes a brief skin maceration, ferments with spontaneous yeasts and matures for twelve to fifteen months in 500-litre barrels; it is neither fined nor finely filtered, then spends another year in bottle before release.
