Gaja

The estate has been based in Barbaresco since 1859, when Giovanni Gaja assembled the first two hectares of vineyard. It was Angelo Gaja, who joined the winery in 1961, who took the name beyond Langhe; today, his children Gaia, Rossana and Giovanni work alongside him.

The choices that shaped the house's history are well known: single-vineyard bottling with Sorì San Lorenzo from 1967, followed by Sorì Tildìn and Costa Russi, the barrique, the purchase of Sperss in Serralunga d'Alba in 1988, and entry into Barolo. This was followed by Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino, Ca' Marcanda in Bolgheri and, since 2017, Idda on Etna.

The STELT selection includes Barbaresco 2019, from vineyards in Barbaresco and Treiso, and Sperss 2016, which returned to the Barolo denomination with the 2013 vintage after its years as Langhe Nebbiolo. Provenance verified.
