Giacomo Conterno
The winery is based in Monforte d'Alba, and its reputation rests on Barolo Monfortino Riserva, produced only in vintages deemed suitable and aged for about seven years in large Slavonian oak casks before bottling.
Until the 1970s, the grapes were purchased. In 1974, the family acquired Cascina Francia in Serralunga d'Alba, and from that moment production became entirely sourced from owned vineyards, later joined by the Cerretta and Arione parcels.
The approach is explicitly traditional: long macerations, no concessions to small-format oak, and exceptionally long aging periods. In vintages without Monfortino, the grapes go into Barolo Cascina Francia. Controlled storage, traceable provenance.
