Grongnet
The maison is based in Étoges, in the Côte des Blancs, where the Grongnet family has been producing Champagne since 1885. It is now run by Cécile Grongnet, the fifth generation at the helm, with 18 hectares of vineyards planted 60% to Chardonnay and the remainder equally divided between Pinot Noir and Meunier.
It is an independent grower and a member of Club Trésors de Champagne, the growers' association that brings together the Special Club cuvées. The two Carpe Diem extra brut wines are fermented in oak barrels and do not undergo malolactic fermentation, resulting in more taut, structured Champagne wines with very low dosages.
The STELT selection includes Tradition Brut, the entry-level blend, and the two Carpe Diem wines: the Extra Brut, with a dosage of 3 grams, and the Rosé, a rosé de saignée at 2 grams. Provenance verified.
