Guiberteau

The domaine is based in Saint-Just-sur-Dive, in the Saumurois, and has been run since 1996 by Romain Guiberteau, who took back the family vineyards instead of renewing their lease. The estate was founded in the early twentieth century by Clément Manguin; in 1954, his grandfather Robert purchased parcels on the Brézé hill, including the Clos des Carmes, where more than half of the vineyards are located today.

In the early years, Romain worked with the support of Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard. Organic farming since 2000, certified since 2007; in the cellar, whole-cluster pressing, indigenous yeasts, and restrained use of new oak. The whites are Chenin Blanc, the reds Cabernet Franc.

The STELT selection includes Saumur Blanc 2021 and Brézé 2015, cuvées from the tuffeau limestone soils of the hill, in 0.75 l bottles. Verified provenance.
