Pierre Overnoy

Pierre Overnoy took over his family’s vineyards in Pupillin, a village next to Arbois in the Jura, in 1968. The estate covers around six and a half hectares, divided between Ploussard, Chardonnay, and Savagnin, and since 2001 has been run by Emmanuel Houillon, who joined the winery in 1990 and was designated Overnoy’s successor, as Overnoy had no children.

The name has been associated with natural wine since before the term existed: cultivation without herbicides or synthetic products from the outset and, since the mid-1980s, winemaking without added sulfites, following the studies of Jules Chauvet. Production remains limited, at around twenty thousand bottles in favorable vintages.
