Burlotto

Comm. G.B. Burlotto is based in Verduno, the northernmost municipality in the Barolo area. It was founded in 1850, when Giovan Battista Burlotto turned the family’s agricultural business toward viticulture; in 1899, he supplied wines for the Arctic expedition of the Duke of the Abruzzi. Today it is run by Fabio Alessandria, the fifth generation.

The method remains traditional: open wooden vats, long macerations, and aging in large casks. For Monvigliero, Verduno’s best-known vineyard, the grapes are foot-trodden whole bunches, with macerations lasting up to sixty days.

The STELT selection includes three Barolo DOCG wines: Barolo 2014, Cannubi 2015, from the estate-owned parcel in the municipality of Barolo, and Acclivi 2009, a blend of the estate’s crus in Verduno. Verified provenance.
